Introducing Toni Tabora, Interim Executive Director

Dear friends and partners of Rahab’s Sisters,

As Desiree Eden begins her new chapter at Rose Haven, we remain deeply grateful for the five years of leadership, care, and lasting impact she has brought to Rahab’s Sisters. We are excited to share the next step in our leadership transition.

We are thrilled to welcome Toni Tabora as Interim Executive Director of Rahab’s Sisters.

Toni brings more than 20 years of experience in leadership development, organizational development, and community engagement, much of it rooted here in Portland. As the founder of Esper House, she has spent the last decade working with organizations across the nonprofit, arts, and social justice sectors, helping them navigate growth, change, and transition with care and clarity.

Her approach is grounded in collaboration, culturally responsive practice, and a deep belief in community-centered leadership—values that align closely with Rahab’s Sisters’ commitment to radical hospitality, radical inclusion, and decolonization.

Toni currently serves as a board member of the Regional Arts and Culture Council and is a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum of Oregon. She has also served on numerous community boards and committees across the Portland region. She is a mother, a creative, and a longtime advocate for equity and belonging in our city.

We are confident that Toni’s steady, values-driven leadership will provide continuity and support for our staff, volunteers, and guests while Rahab’s Sisters moves thoughtfully into its next chapter.

We’re also grateful that Kaylyn Berry is stepping up as Interim Deputy Director, and Emily Morioka, who has supported Rahab’s Sisters as a grant writer, will be expanding her role to provide additional programmatic and development support during this period. Together, these leadership supports will help us remain focused on the relationships, programs, and community that are at the heart of Rahab’s Sisters.

Our mission remains as strong as ever: to cultivate community with women, trans, and nonbinary people through joy and nourishment of body and mind. We continue to believe that radical hospitality, radical inclusion, and decolonization are essential to building a community where people can experience connection, dignity, belonging, and joy.

We look forward to introducing Toni to you in the months ahead, including at our upcoming Sparkle Party, where we’ll have the opportunity to gather, celebrate, and connect as a community.
