Title: Program Associate

Reports to: Radical Hospitality Coordinator

Scheduled Work Hours: 25 hrs per week, Current schedule: Mondays 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Thursdays 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Friday’s  2:00 pm - 9:00 pm Schedule may change based on program needs. 

Status: Non-exempt, hourly, P/T

Compensation: $22 - 24/hr

The primary responsibility of the Program Associate is to provide day-to-day support to program team members in the daily operations of Rahab’s Sisters programming. The Program Associate prioritizes work according to programmatic needs, works closely with the program team, and practices radical hospitality with Guests, volunteers, and the wider Rahab’s Sisters community. 

A successful Program Associate will work well with others, lead with humility, show good active listening skills, and exercise versatility and adaptability in the workplace. Good time management and communication skills are essential, as is experience building strong working relationships. All Rahab’s Sisters team members work to be compassionate, organized, assertive, and accountable. Previous work, volunteer, and/or lived experience with populations represented among Rahab’s Sisters Guests are preferred. 

Responsibilities

PRIMARY

  • Lead or co-lead direct services according to program and operations plan, Rahab’s Sisters values, and safety protocols while ensuring successful execution of services.

  • Interface with, check-in and delegate roles to volunteers during preparation and service shifts.

  • Facilitate volunteer introductions and debriefs before, during, and after service shifts, creating an atmosphere of welcome and radical acceptance.

  • Coordinate with onsite program partners during service at Rahab’s Sisters to ensure the necessary support for Guests and volunteers.

  • Help to facilitate a safe, inviting, low-barrier environment and services for Rahab’s Sisters Guests.

  • Responsible for setting up and closing down the space for service at Rahab’s Sisters.

  • Complete and or contribute to service reporting as assigned.

  • Set-up and clean-up for RS services and ensure that opening/closing procedures are complete for each service

SECONDARY

  • Attend team meetings as an essential member of the Program staff, providing input, reflection and analysis of program services.

  • Contribute to post-service shift reporting and tracking

  • Participate in staff trainings on an as-needed basis

  • Participate in donation reception and supply organization

  • Represent Rahab’s Sisters to the public with integrity.

  • Occasionally staff special events such as the annual Open House, Volunteer Appreciation, or cultivation events.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED 

  • Passion for Rahab’s Sisters mission and Radical Hospitality. 

  • Commitment to disrupting racism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, and ableism. 

  • A commitment to harm reduction and anti-carceral values/approaches.

  • Competence and experience in working in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Comfort with clear communication, both verbally and in writing.

  • Experience working effectively and building relationships with people from different racial, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, and across generations.

  • Ability to provide, receive, and implement constructive feedback.

  • Comfortable in a growing, collaborative, and fast-paced environment. 

  • Ability to multitask productively with frequent interruptions. 

  • Able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to move and transport up to 35 pounds.

  • 2-years of related work or volunteer experience.

  • Ability to traverse stairs to move supplies from storage area to primary service area.

PREFERRED 

  • Prior work, volunteer, or lived experience with women, trans, non-binary, and/or gender-queer individuals experiencing systemic oppression due to their gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, racial identity, housing status, drug use, and/or sex work.

  • Customer service or service industry experience.

  • Working knowledge and satisfactory skills in using MS Excel or Google Sheets and MS word or Google Docs, good ability to operate a computer. 

  • De-escalation or Mental Health First Aid experience/training.

  • Spanish, Cantonese, or second language skills.

Compensation 

$22 - $24  an hour as a part time non exempt employee. Generous paid time off, 12 paid holidays (including your own birthday), a Health reimbursement account, and technology stipend.
